Europe Day – May 9
MRU Library

Seventy-five years ago, the Schuman Declaration was signed, a key document that made it possible to create today's European Union and to unite many nations in a common project: Europe.
Europe is not just a collection of different countries and their politics. It is also an intertwined history and a rich body of literature.

In our library, you can easily see Europe's diversity and Lithuania's strong translation culture. In the main reading room you will find a curated selection - one book from each European country. Immerse yourself in the worlds created by European authors: Enjoy Olga Tokarczuk's mystical crime novel set in the vivid landscape of the Polish mountains, discover the painful history of Catalonia in Carlos Ruiz Zafón's The Shadow of the Wind, or simply read a book by Imre Kertész, a man who survived the Holocaust.
