Internationalization
International Office of Mykolas Romeris University works in order to make the University more international and competitive in the area of higher education in Lithuania, Europe and all around the world. It coordinates international cooperation and partnerships among the University and foreign higher education institutions, international organisations, networks, diplomatic missions, Lithuanian communities abroad, University’s participation in international academic exchange programmes (such as Erasmus+ mobility, Lithuanian short-term studies, other programmes initiated by foreign governments or bilateral university agreements). It coordinates exchange programmes, advises arriving students and staff on non-academic support, temporary residence in Lithuania (migration), integration into the University’s academic community. International office informs University students and staff about studies, grants and placements abroad, and provides the University’s departments with methodical, administrative and informational assistance.
International Office consists of: the International Student Mobility Unit (focuses on student exchange programmes and only non-degree mobility topics) and the International Partnerships Unit (focuses on staff mobility, partnerships and international degree-seeking students support topics).

Mykolas Romeris University was awarded by the European Commission with Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021-2027, which allows the University to participate in all actions of new period of Erasmus+ programme.
The Erasmus Policy Statement – EPS of the University describes the internationalization strategy of the University in relation to participation in all actions of the Erasmus+ programme and beyond.

Implementation of the UPinLT Project at Mykolas Romeris University
Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) successfuly completed the UPinLT project, which concludes on November 30. Through this initiative, MRU awarded 51 grants for supplementary internships, providing international degree-seeking students and recent graduates with opportunities to gain professional experience, enhance their skills, and integrate into the Lithuanian labor market.
Key Achievements:

Internship Placements: A total of 51 students and recent graduates completed internships in 45 different organizations across Lithuania. Notably, some organizations hosted multiple interns, such as:
- UAB Yara Lietuva (6 interns)
- UAB „Nauja oda eshop“ (5 interns)
- Vilniaus Gabrielės Petkevičaitės-Bitės suaugusiųjų mokymo centras (3 interns)
- Lietuvos kokybės vadybos ir inovacijų asociacija (2 interns)
- Kazimiero Simonavičiaus universitetas (2 interns)
- Vaiko gerovės institutas, Kauno arkivyskupijos Caritas (2 interns)
- VšĮ Vyriausybės strateginės analizės centras (2 interns)
- UAB „DHL Logistics Lietuva“ (2 interns).

Relevance to Study Fields: All internships were closely aligned with the students’ academic disciplines, ensuring their work contributed to both their educational and career development.

Career Development: The program helped participants establish valuable professional networks, improve their Lithuanian language skills, and gain insights into the Lithuanian labor market. Many interns have used this experience as a stepping stone to secure employment in Lithuania or pursue higher levels of education.

Practical Support: Each internship lasted 2, 3 or 4 months, with a commitment of 20 hours per week for students and 30 hours per week for graduates. Participants received a monthly grant of €650, ensuring the internships were both practical and financially accessible.
Project Impact:
The UPinLT project has been a significant step in fostering the integration of international students and graduates into Lithuanian society. By providing real-world experience and professional connections. The program has strengthened the employability of participants enriched the Lithuanian labor market.
MRU expresses gratitude to all partner organizations, including academic institutions, NGOs, and private companies, for their collaboration in this meaningful initiative. The project’s success reflects the university’s commitment to supporting its international community and enhancing their contributions to Lithuania’s socio-economic development.
With the closure of the UPinLT project, MRU looks forward to future opportunities to empower its students and graduates through innovative and impactful initiatives.
