In the spring, the library was enriched with many new books.
Among the new arrivals is the internationally praised book by Marijam Didžgalvytė, Videožaidimai keičia pasaulį. Kas laimi? The English title is: Everything to Play For: How Videogames are Changing Our World This book, written by a Lithuanian author, captivates readers with hundreds of stories from another world: about gaming communities that ignore national borders, about the greedy gaming industry that refuses to control neo-Nazis appearing on gaming channels, and about politics, which manifests not in traditional forms, but through the images created by the players themselves. For example, there are streamers who teach how to build Putin's palace in The Sims game and raise questions about the taste and origins of the wealth of the owner of this strange palace (p.140).
Also, in her book, Marijam Didžgalvytė shows that games can unite people for noble causes. She tells a story about how twenty-four people from sixteen different countries built a huge structure in Minecraft, resembling the main building of the New York Public Library. In this virtual space, players can find books and articles that are banned in countries like Russia. The space was built from over 12 million Minecraft blocks and even includes a plugin that allows users to convert Word documents into books, enabling readers to add books to the shelves themselves (p.140).
