Purpose of the programme

The master’s program purpose to prepare professionals in business economics, helping them to acquire and develop new, relevant economic knowledge and skills; to understand, analyse and evaluate business, their functioning and interaction patterns in the economic environment; to make sustainable economic and financial decisions to increase business competitive advantage and efficiency.

Programme features

Graduates of this study programme will be able to work in both national and regional business institutions as economic specialists, to set up or manage a business in Lithuania and foreign companies and their branches operating in different business areas, as well as manage or work in functional business units – an economic analysis, planning, management and finance departments.

Employment opportunities for graduates

Graduates who have completed second-cycle studies can work as heads of economic and financial departments and high-level specialists in private or public-sector national and international companies or organisations, create their own businesses, or work as lecturers or researchers in higher education institutions. General competences and learning outcomes

1. Personal and Social abilities

  • Metastudying ability, creativity and problem-solving: to constantly learn and improve, taking into account the accumulated experience and knowledge; to critically evaluate one’s own and colleagues’ professional activities, to take responsibility, to lead professional activities, to assess and expand the economic opportunities of various businesses and other institutions;
  • Ability to communicate in writing and orally in a professional environment and in the scientific community, and present research results, according to various competitive analysis, research methods and information resources, competence to perform dissemination;
  • Systematic and critical thinking competencies: ability to apply systematic integration of knowledge of economic and sustainable development, apply critical thinking towards the knowledge and the development of practical and theoretical innovation;
  • IT application competencies: the ability to use information technology, analyse and systematize, the information from the databases, associated with business economics and sustainable development, disposal of communication and information management potencies, including skills to deliver reasoned and commented quantitative and qualitative information;

Subject specific competences and learning outcomes

2. Knowledge and its application

  • To know and understand the economic theories and concepts that underpin and explain the functioning of business and economic processes;
  • To know and understand the components of the financial system, it’s functions, institutions and processes, investments and risk management; to understand the place of modern financial markets, in the context of economic integration importance;
  • To be able to integrate economic knowledge from various fields to solve new problems; To know and understand the specifics of sustainable business, it’s development trends, globalization processes and social, economic and environmental changes, that influence the development of business;
  • To know and understand business processes, social and economic phenomena research areas and methodologies, while assessing and participating in the decision-making process in the dynamic internal and external business environment.

3. Research skills

  • Ability to analyse business entities’ economic and financial transactions, calculate different indicators and be able to explain the relationship between them as well as the impact on the economics, while using advanced economic and financial analysis techniques;
  • Ability to independently initiate, plan, organize and conduct research in the field of economics, construct a research methodology, carry out economic activities, quantitative and qualitative research of business phenomena in a variety of contexts, develop research instruments, while collecting, analysing and summarising information and evaluating results and determining their reliability;
  • To analyse economic, social and environmental phenomena, to evaluate different areas of the economy, to calculate economic indicators and identify the scope of their application and explain their relationship and influence on the business entity, the industry or the national economy;
  • To develop the ability to analyze, systematically and critically evaluate economic ideas, solve practical economization tasks, practical problems of investment and financial management and provide solutions.

4. Special abilities

  • To understand and responsibly as well as creatively apply economic science theories, models and research methods, in the analysis and evaluation of socio-economic phenomena, economic processes and behaviour, to create new knowledge and practices in the field of economics;
  • To understand the research process and methodology, identify economic-mathematical models, suitable for describing economic and social phenomena;
  • To be able to solve economic problems by creating innovations that require a new strategic approach, taking into account increased business effectiveness and innovative decisions, contributing towards the increase of business competitiveness, to find business-related information, understand the nature and structure of data, their resources and forms within inner-disciplinary contexts, associated with the economics.
Study Organization

Full-Time Studies (in English)

Classes are held on weekdays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with one session per week held online in the “Moodle” platform.

International students who are in the process of obtaining a temporary residence permit in Lithuania and cannot travel to Lithuania will be able to study remotely during the first semester.

Important: Foreign students must arrive to the University by September 1, 2026, unless a later program start date is specified. Exceptions can be made only for valid reasons, and students must participate in studies remotely until their arrival. If a student fails to arrive by the specified deadline without valid reasons, the University will notify Lithuania’s Migration Department about the termination of their study agreement.

  5. Confirm your acceptance by paying the first-year tuition fee and 50 euros registration fee (non-refundable)
  6. Sign the study contract
  7. Start Temporary Residence Permit application procedure

Admission Requirements

IMPORTANT BEFORE APPLYING

Required documents:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent first university degree diploma (3-year study duration minimum) in the field of economics, business and public management or social sciences.
  • Academic transcripts of each study year
  • Document proving English language level
  • Motivational letter (please note that the authenticity of the motivation letter will be verified using specialized software, so it should be written without AI assistance)
  • Passport copy
  • Additional educational documents might be required depending on the country of residence

Provided documents must be in color, have no cut corners (high quality scan).

English Language Requirements

Required level – B2

Assessments of English language proficiency certificates equivalent to level B2:

  • TOEFL IBT 72-94
  • IELTS 5.5-6.5
  • PTE score 59-75
  • DUOLINGO 100-125
  • IGCSE English First Language – E/3 or above
  • Cambridge International English GCE O Level/GCSE – English Language grade E / 3 or above
  • Cambridge English: B2 First, C1 Advanced – Overall Cambridge English Scale score of 162 or above

If you do not have a certificate proving your English language proficiency level, you can take the University Online English language level test. You will be able to choose this option while filling in the application. The test is free of charge.

Certificate is not required if your native language is English or if your previous studies were conducted fully in English language.

Documents Legalization
  • If original educational documents are not in English, Lithuanian or Russian languages it has to be supplemented with an official translation.
  • Official translation has to be confirmed by a sworn translator’s signature, notary, apostille or consular legalisation.
  • If original educational documents are in English, Lithuanian or Russian language, scanned copies are enough.
  • Accepted students shall present their original educational documents to the International Office upon arrival to studies.

Qualification Recognition

Recognition of Foreign Qualifications

  • The evaluation and recognition of prior qualifications is a part of Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) admissions process.
  • By submitting the online application you confirm that the documents are legitimate and that MRU can verify the authenticity of the documents by contacting its issuing authority and national ENIC/NARIC centre.
  • Documents uploaded must be in good condition and in full colour. Documents issued in languages other than English, Russian, or Lithuanian must be accompanied with an official translation into English or Lithuanian. 
  • Before you apply make sure that you have a complete documentation package and that your qualifications are giving access to higher education according to the study programme level you are applying for at the MRU.  

Recognition Criteria

  • The purpose of an assessment is to compare a foreign qualification with a similar level qualification awarded in Lithuania according to quality, profile, content, workloads and learning outcomes.
  • Your qualification will be assessed according to specific requirements for the programme you are applying for and whether your academic results are sufficient for studies at the MRU.

Right to Appeal

Recognition decisions can be appealed against to the Academic Recognition of Foreign Qualifications Concerning Higher Education Appeal Committee under the Lithuanian Ministry of Education and Science.

Payment information will be provided in the invoices issued in your online application form.

Student continues to pay the same tuition fee which was implied at the time of the admission.
