Library Rules

Services


1. Users are requested to leave coats and bags in the cloakroom. There are lockers for your belongings.
2. Discussions in the Readings Rooms are strictly prohibited. Mobile devices may be used only in silent mode.
3. Smoking, eating and drinking (except sealed bottles or cups) are not allowed in the Library.
4. Library materials must not be marked, defaced or annotated in any way.
5. Books from the Reading Rooms are not taken home. Use them only in the area of the Library.
6. Users should not return books to the shelves. Please leave them on the trolley next to the shelves.
7. Users can take books home from the Lending Department.
8. Bachelor students can have 20 books at one time, master students – 30.
9. To take books home you need a document (Student‘s ID Card or Personal Identity Card)
10. Fines for overdue books are started to calculate from the next day, when the returning term of the book has expired:
  • if the book is checked out until the end of the semester, the fine is 0,05 EUR for each working day that the book is overdue.
  • if the book is checked out shorter than the semester, the fine is 0,10 EUR for each working day that the book is overdue.

MRU library trainings

Library offers wide scope of trainings in Lithuanian. Trainings on different topics are held on students’ demand:
  • "How to find information for your papers“;
  • "Searching for the scientific information in the subscribed databases“;
  • "Reference management tools: Mendeley and Zotero“;
  • "Electronic books „workshop“: how to find, download and use the e.book“;
  • "Google services and tools“.
Contact your Subject Librarian for the detailed information and to book a training session in English.

Borrow a Book

 If you want to know how our Library works, what services are
available, please don’t hesitate to 
ask the librarians


Lecturers can borrow: 

- up to 50 items from the Lending Department; 
- up to 5 items from the Reading Rooms (for 5 working days, if the books are not on order). 

Readers can check out the books themselves using a self check-out book machine.

Fines are calculated for the overdue books.

The Lecturers Reading Rooms (C-I-209 and C-I-011)
are open to University Faculty members only.

SPSS17 and E-signature can be used in the Lecturers Reading Room (C-I-209). 

Faculty members can print material free of charge: 
- in the Lecturers Reading Room (Central Building, C-I-209)
- in the Silent Reading Room (First Building, P-I-304 kab.). 
The Library does not supply paper for these printers. You must bring your own.
 
Near Lecturers Reading Rooms are available Individual lockers where you can store your belongings. 


After you register your account in University computer
system, you will be able to connect to the Library computers.

All Library locations offer free wireless internet access.

Bibliometric services

  • Bibliometric indicators are provided from Thomson Reuters Web of Knowledge (Web of Science and Journal Citation Reports) database. Bibliometric services are provided only for MRU academic staff.
  • Library offers:
  • author citation analysis – personal citation indexes of the author‘s publications;
  • H-index – citation of author‘s publications;
  • journal citation index (impact factor);
  • citation indexes of science fields – average citation of the exact category;
  • citation maps - related authors and articles;
  • largely cited journals of social sciences and humanities.
  • Bibliometric indexes may differ in various databases. For the comparison we also offer author’s h-index from Google Scholar database using Publish or Perish tool.

Bibliographical References List

  • Preparation of Bibliographical References List is free of charge for researchers and lecturers of the University.
  • The List is prepared within 10 working days.
  • The List is prepared by Subject Librarians on subjects of humanities and social sciences.
  • The user must complete a request form.
  • The completed request form must be sent to a Subject librarian by e-mail.

Training Sessions

  • MRU Library organizes regular training sessions for students and faculty staff.
  • Library offers wide scope of trainings in Lithuanian. Trainings on different topics are held on users’ demand:

  • If a group is formed, librarians can come to your department.

    Invite a Subject Librarian to Lecture

    • We can introduce:
    • electronic sources of scientific information on a specific topic;
    • provide compilation of bibliographical lists on any subject;
    • provide citation rules.

    Bibliographic management programs

    • MRU academic staff have free access to the Mendeley Premium. We invite you to register and take advantages of all the great opportunities that Mendeley offers.

    • For all questions relating to Mendeley, please contact the librarian Loreta Šetbarė by email loreta@mruni.eu, tel. (+370 5) 2714 726 or connect to the MRU community group on Mendeley where you can ask questions, discuss and share your experiences.

      Lecturers Reading Rooms (I-011, I -209)

      • The Lecturers reading rooms are located on the second floor of the Central building.
      • These Reading Rooms are open for University lecturers only.
      • The Reading Rooms is equipped with computers. It is possible to connect from your laptop to the Internet. Scanning, printing and copying of documents is free of charge.
      • SPSS17 and E-signature can be used in the Lecturers Reading Room (C-I-209). 

      Individual Lockers

      • Near Lecturers Reading Rooms  (I-011, I-209) are available Individual lockers.
      • You can store notes, books, computers and other items in the lockers.
      • The Locker is available for a one month period.
      • If you want to use the locker longer than for a one month period, contact the library administrator.
      • The Library administrator has the keys to the lockers.


      The Library welcomes suggestions for the acquisition of materials, which support the University's teaching and research programs.

      Before suggesting a book or other materials, please check the Library catalogue to make sure that we don't already have what you're looking for.

      If we don't have a particular item and you would like to recommend it for purchase, please use the Suggest a Publication form.

      If you wish to suggest more than one book, please use the Book order form and send it to dmarcink@mruni.eu and jalmone@mruni.eu. In addition, this form must be signed by the Head of the Department and should be passed on to the Senior Librarian Daiva Marcinkevičiūtė (Ateities st. 20, Room: I-103, Tel.: (+370 5) 271 4724).

        On November 16, 2016 WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) announced its new Open Access policy to promote the widest possible public access to its publications, furthering the Organization’s commitment to the dissemination and sharing of knowledge. From now, new publications created and wholly owned by WIPO, as well as a selection of existing publications, licensed under the CC-BY 3.0 IGO license or one of the other licenses in the Creative Commons IGO suite will be clearly identified and searchable within the publications area of the WIPO website. We would like to remind you that in 2014 Mykolas Romeris University library gained the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) depository library status. 
        Our library is supplied with one copy of all unrestricted WIPO publications issued, including books, reports and periodicals, in addition to electronic materials (CDs, DVDs, etc).
        All WIPO depository library materials are located in the Lecturers Reading Room (room: I-011).

        Prof. dr. Pečkaitis Celebrated 70th Jubilee with New Book Exhibit

        October 13th 2016, the Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Library was opened a book and research journal exhibition to mark the 70th jubilee birthday of long-time Law Prof. Justinas Sigitas Pečkaitis, who has served as MRU's Vice-Rector.
        Prof. Pečkaitis was a Law Professor specializing in Criminal Law issues.
