MRU Lecturers Taught Classes at the Molėtų & Utena Šapoka Gymnasiums

Sept. 26th, 2016, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Lecturers from Spain, Iran and the U.S. taught classes at the Molėtų and Utena Adolfas Šapoka Gymnasiums. They told pupils about their home countries, discussed culture and traditions.

The lecturers, who teach in MRU's "English for Specific Purposes and the Second Foreign Language" and the "Translation & Editing" programme, often travel to meet with and make presentations at area Lithuanian schools and gymnasiums.

MRU Lecturer Kristina Schimmels from the U.S., who has been in Lithuania for 4 years, is well-known among pupils. She has been visiting gymnasiums in Lithuania for a number of years.

She lectured about the power of words and influence in our lives.

Schimmels, who has Indian blood, also talked about the American Indian Choctaw tribe from which she hails.

MRU's Spanish language Lecturer Juan Carlos Pagan Motos told pupils about Spain, its cultural diversity and compared it with Lithuania. He also taught pupils to say hello in Spanish and taught them several new phrases. At the end of his presentation, he played the traditional Spanish flamenco instrument, cajón.

Lecturer Marjan Masoodi from Iran talked about Iran and Persian culture. She made a presentation about Iran's architecture and discussed colourful Persian carpets, metal and glass works.

MRU Norwegian Language Lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sigita Rakevičienė accompanied the lecturers. She said that "bridges are being built between gymnasiums and universities", because we can be interesting to one another and enrich and enhance the studies of students, pupils.
