Mentoring Program

Mykolas Romeris University’s Academic Mentoring Program launches in October 2026! We invite you to review the guidelines and join the program as a mentor or mentee.

GUIDELINES FOR THE ACADEMIC MENTORING PROGRAM

The Academic Mentoring Program is designed to facilitate the smooth adaptation and integration of academic staff into the academic community, the sharing of best practices, professional development, academic career planning, leadership development, and the establishment of professional networks.

Program Objective—to acquire or improve teaching, research, or general competencies, thereby strengthening compliance with qualification requirements and pursuing an academic degree or a career as a researcher.

Mentoring Areas:

1. R&D Activities (research and publications, international scientific collaboration, etc.);
2. Teaching Competencies (quality of studies and innovative teaching methods, organization of the study process, preparation of teaching materials, etc.);
3. Impact on communities and regions (dissemination of research results and science communication, etc.);
4. Leadership in working with students (supervising theses, student mentoring, involving students in research activities, etc.);
5. Project-based activities (developing and participating in research and innovation projects);
6. Digital competencies (artificial intelligence tools, virtual learning environments, etc.).

Mentors could be faculty members who:

• have at least 1 year of work experience at the University;
• are highly rated by students (applicable to mentors in the didactic competencies track);
• meet the qualification requirements;
• demonstrate strong competencies in at least one mentoring track;
• are willing to share their experience with colleagues.

Mentees are invited to be faculty members who:

• have at least 1 year of work experience at the University;
• seek to grow and strengthen their competencies in a focused manner;
• are pursuing an academic degree or a career as a researcher.

Program Implementation Period and Duration:

June 11, 2026 – September 18, 2026 – registration of mentors and mentees

September 28, 2026 – program presentation during Science Week events

October 1, 2026 – December 15, 2026 – main part of the program

February 1, 2027 – May 31, 2027 – ongoing mentoring as needed

Program Structure:

• mentoring preparation training;
• formation of mentoring pairs;
• regular meetings between mentors and mentees;
• periodic joint discussions;
• joint program events.

The program provides a clear structure, tools, and professional support throughout the entire process so that mentors and mentees can actively build their mentoring relationship—setting goals, initiating meetings, and reflecting on progress.

• you will expand your professional network and establish new, meaningful collaborative relationships;

Certificates of professional development will be issued for participation in the Academic Mentoring Program.
