Remote Conference

Dec. 14th, 2022, 10:00 a.m., a Conference, "Trauma and Resilience: Challenges & Opportunities in Providing Social Assistance to Children and Their Families" will be held remotely.

In the last two decades, the theoretical and practical field of social work has seen a breakthrough in understanding and coping with complex traumas experienced in childhood. Research, studies and interventions are carried out, which deepen knowledge about the impact of psychological trauma experienced in childhood on the child, family, and communities. When the opportunities for interdisciplinary cooperation open up, specialists offer various methods of overcoming childhood trauma. The application of these methods remains complicated, due to the individuality of the child and his family, the differences and peculiarities of the environment close to the child.

We invite everyone who is interested in the issues of difficulties faced by children and their families, the impact of traumatic experiences, resilience and coping options to participate.

The remote conference, "Trauma and Resilience: Challenges and Possibilities of Providing Social Assistance to Children and Their Families", is organized by the Institute of Education and Social Work of the Faculty of Human and Society Studies of MRU together with the Lithuanian Social Work School Association (LSDMA). The following questions will be discussed:

  • How do difficulties and traumatic experiences affect a child's personality and future possibilities?
  • How to recognize and diagnose a child's difficulties?
  • What kind of intervention would affect the child and his environment?
  • What are the possibilities of cooperation between specialists in various fields in order to raise individuals resistant to harmful environmental influences?

A link how to connect to the Conference will be sent to registered participants on the eve of the Conference.

Conference participants will receive certificates (only those participants that registered in advance and attended the Conference).

Organising Committee: MRU's Faculty of Human and Social Studies' Institute of Educational Sciences and Social Work (esdi.konferencija@mruni.eu) as well as the Lithuanian Social Work School Association (LSDMA).
