Lithuanian Diaspora Admission
Lithuanians who have obtained their education outside Lithuania can be accepted to the state-funded study places in Lithuanian higher education institutions or claim for scholarships.
They get 1 or 2* extra points added to their competition score – these extra points increase chances of obtaining a state-funded place.
*2 extra points are given to graduates of certain schools.
Who is eligible?
Lithuanians who have obtained their education outside Lithuania and have submitted documents proving that:
- they resided abroad for at least 3 years while obtaining their education abroad – applicable to citizens of the Republic of Lithuania;
- they hold the status of a person of Lithuanian origin – foreign nationals of Lithuanian descent, as well as their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. For this, they will be required to submit documents confirming Lithuanian origin (e.g. birth certificates of parents/grandparents).
These documents must be submitted together with the application for studies at Lithuanian higher education institutions.
Applicants are ranked competitively based on their admission score. This score is calculated using the results of four exams. If exams are not part of the applicant’s education system, or if fewer exams are taken than required in Lithuania, school grades are used instead.
Which subjects are included in the admission score?
