About the project: One of the objectives of the circular economy is to ensure that products are sustainable and can be used for longer, and to create legal and economic conditions for consumers to participate in the circular economy. Various studies have shown that a significant number of consumers would rather repair their items than replace them, but often have to replace them with new ones because of the high cost of repair. Also, a large number of products on the market cannot be easily reused, repaired or recycled due to their short life span, as they are essentially made for a single use. It is important that consumers are provided with relevant, clear and easily understandable information at the point of sale on the durability and repairability of the product to help them compare and identify the most sustainable products on the market. Thus, there is a continuous effort at EU and national level to find effective ways to ensure that the consumer’s right to repair and the problems associated with it are implemented in the most effective way possible, thereby contributing to the promotion of sustainable consumption.

The project is funded by the Lithuanian Research Council under the Student Research Semesters programme.
