Why Students Choose Bachelor of Law and Global Security Programme: Kirill Savchuk’s Story
Law School

Choosing the right study programme can shape not only your career, but your entire future. For Kirill Savchuk, a Ukrainian student currently studying across Kazakhstan and Lithuania, the decision to join the International Law and Global Security Bachelor’s programme was driven by one clear goal: gaining a truly international and forward-looking legal education.

Today, Kirill is on his last year of a unique double degree programme between Narxoz University and Mykolas Romeris University (MRU), giving him the opportunity to experience different legal systems, academic cultures, and perspectives—all within one degree.

A Programme That Opens Borders

According to Kirill, one of the key reasons for choosing this study path was the opportunity to gain a broader academic perspective.

“This type of education gives law students the opportunity to build knowledge based on several legal systems and test themselves within different teaching approaches,” he explains.

By combining international law, global security, and practical legal training, the programme equips students with the skills needed to navigate today’s complex and rapidly evolving world. It is designed for those who want to think beyond national boundaries and understand law in a global context.

From Classroom to Real-World Experience

Kirill’s studies go far beyond theory. Throughout the programme, he has engaged in research project in Commercial and International Private Law, analysing real cases and legal frameworks that reflect current global challenges.

The learning experience is highly interactive—students take part in discussions, case studies, and problem-solving exercises that mirror real legal work. Studying in an international environment has also strengthened Kirill’s ability to collaborate with students from different countries, different cultures and communicate effectively.

“I have gained a broad and truly practical legal education,” Kirill notes.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Studying in both Kazakhstan and Lithuania has allowed Kirill to grow not only academically, but also personally.

He highlights the importance of intercultural experience:

“I developed strong intercultural awareness shaped by the national character of both countries.”

From social traditions to everyday life, each country offered a unique perspective. While Kazakhstan stood out for its strong sense of hospitality and community, Lithuania impressed him with its vibrant cultural life and well-developed civic environment.

Understanding Law in a Global Context

The International Law and Global Security programme stands out for its multidimensional approach. Kirill’s academic journey spans multiple legal systems—from Kazakhstan’s legal framework to European and Lithuanian law, and even research experience in Italy.

“I have gained a broad and truly practical legal education,” he says. “This path is highly relevant for modern legal practice.”

This approach equips students with the skills needed to navigate complex international legal challenges and to understand the intersection of law, policy, and global security.

More Than Studies — A Global Mindset

Beyond academics, Kirill’s experience has fostered a deeper understanding of the global community.

Working with people from diverse cultural and national backgrounds helped him realise that, despite differences, people share common values and aspirations.

“This experience strengthened my belief that borders are becoming less significant, and people will be able to feel at home anywhere.”

For those considering the programme, Kirill offers a simple yet powerful message:

“Be brave. Even if you are unsure, start with an international experience—you will discover that there are millions of people around the world just like you.”
