Visit of the Academy of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Mykolas Romeris University

On 7-8 December, a delegation of the Academy of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ASCCA), headed by the Rector Dr. Gulu Novruzov, visited the University. 

During the visit, the Rectors of the two universities signed an agreement on cooperation in the implementation of Master's degree programmes in the field of European/International Business Law. This agreement enables students to pursue Master of Laws degrees in the two countries by studying on the basis of a harmonized European and International Business Law curriculum. Upon graduation, students will be highly qualified in the field of business law and will have the competences to provide legal advice to the international business environment, to interpret the latest issues and trends in business law, to analyze and assess business-related legal situations, and to deal promptly and effectively with the legal problems faced by business.

CCA Rector Dr. G. Novruzov exchanged views on how this agreement will contribute to the exchange of students and staff, and on the future perspectives of Master's degree holders from the two countries.  Representatives of the School of Law who participated in the signing ceremony - the Director of the Institute of Private Law, Prof. Dr. Virginiijus Bitė, and the Vice-Dean for International Relations and International Studies, Dr. Jolanta Apolevič, shared the School of Law's experience in the implementation of the joint and dual degree programmes with universities in other countries.

Mykolas Romeris University is cooperating with ASCCA from 2020. Every year MRU receives students from this higher education institution for partial studies under the state scholarship programme, and this year the project "Designing an excellent MA in International Trade, Customs, Logistics, Supply Chain with the best European and International Standards" coordinated by the EU Erasmus+ programme Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's Degree Training Facility, in which Mykolas Romeris University is also a partner, is being launched by ASCCA.  On the second day of the visit, the guests met with Prof. Dr. Irmantas Rotomskis, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Public Management and Business, and the implementation team of the new project, to discuss the upcoming activities.
