On June 27, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) hosted the second part of its graduation ceremony, during which diplomas were awarded in Vilnius to graduates of the Faculty of Human and Social Studies (FHSS), the Law School (LS), the Public Security Academy (PSA), and the Faculty of Public Governance and Business (FPGB).

This year’s celebration was special as the MRU community was joined by its new mascot – Mruniukas the Squirrel – who attracted much attention from event guests.

The festive ceremony, attended by members of the MRU community, partners, distinguished guests, graduates, and their families, began with a traditional academic procession and the student anthem "Gaudeamus igitur."

The first diplomas were awarded to graduates of the Faculty of Human and Social Studies. This year marks a record for the faculty – 460 graduates completed their studies: 132 from professional studies, 159 with bachelor’s degrees, and 169 with master’s degrees.

“You are graduating into a world where humanity and society are undergoing tremendous changes. From technological advancement to value-based debates, from educational challenges to societal crises – we need people who understand, feel, and listen. People like you,” said Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Natalija Kaminskienė in her congratulatory speech to FHSS graduates.

“The doors of the University will always remain open to you. You will always find space here to return – with your experience, your ideas, and your inspiration. Come back to share, to encourage others, to be an example for those just beginning their journey,” added Dean of FHSS Prof. Dr. Odeta Merfeldaitė, encouraging graduates to stay connected to their roots.

On Thursday, a day earlier, the Public Security Academy held its graduation ceremony in Kaunas, where 24 master's and 10 bachelor’s diplomas were awarded. Today, in Vilnius, an additional 14 PSA bachelor’s students were invited to receive their diplomas.

In Vilnius, PSA students were greeted by Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saulius Spurga:

“The graduation ceremony is a meaningful and joyful day for the University and for each graduate. I encourage you to boldly pursue your goals and become leaders in your field – whether in public service, civil society, or the private sector. I believe many of you will return to the University – to continue your studies, deepen your knowledge, conduct research, teach, or collaborate as social partners and help grow our community.”

Dean of PSA Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marius Bileišis also addressed the audience:

“Congratulations on becoming qualified legal professionals! Your studies gave you knowledge, but as you begin your careers, I’d like to emphasize something essential about law – it exists only where there is a state. I have no doubt that through your daily work, you will contribute to building a stronger country where we all create our lives.”

This year, 38 bachelor’s and 96 master’s graduates completed programs at the Law School. The LL.M. degree was awarded to 62 full-time master’s graduates.

“I wish for you to always see the Human being in your professional path. Defend human rights, freedom, and dignity – here in Lithuania and beyond. Defend democracy. Truth. Conscience. That is the true purpose of law,” said Prof. Dr. N. Kaminskienė to LS graduates.

Dean of the Law School Prof. Dr. Lyra Jakulevičienė congratulated students, saying:

“The path of law is filled with difficult moments and doubt. Sometimes you may question not just the system, but yourself. In such moments, it may seem like everyone else is succeeding – except you. But remember this: measure your success not by comparing yourself to others, but to who you were yesterday. Your journey is unique – just like you. Don’t be afraid if it differs from others. What matters most is not to forget who you are and what you’re striving for.”

Graduates of the Faculty of Public Governance and Business received 32 bachelor’s and 254 master’s diplomas.

In Vilnius, FPGB students were congratulated by Vice-Rector Dr. Eglė Malinauskienė:

“Reality can take many forms, but learning is a lifelong process. So when you feel the need to take a break from the fast pace of modern life, remember – the University can always offer something new and bring you back to the carefree days of studying.”

“Our country needs your skills, fresh energy, and initiatives now more than ever. Do not be discouraged if you encounter misunderstanding from others – it happens. Creating and initiating change requires perseverance, patience, and support. I hope we’ve taught you how to manage change, unite people, and build resilience. That should make your path forward a little clearer,” said Dean Prof. Dr. Danguolė Jankauskienė, encouraging graduates to step forward confidently.

Distinguished guests also delivered congratulatory speeches: Vice Mayor of Vilnius Donalda Meiželytė, Vice Minister of the Interior Alicija Ščerbaitė, Speaker of the Seimas Saulius Skvernelis, Minister of the Interior Vladislavas Kondratovič, and Deputy Chief of the Vilnius County Police Headquarters Mindaugas Puskunigis.

Warm congratulations were also extended by fellow graduates: Aurimas Vitkauskas, Nerijus Laurynas Valiukas, Edita Kėrytė, and Žanas Neimantas.

In total, 1,102 higher education diplomas were awarded during the ceremony. New MRU alumni also received commemorative pins – a symbolic token of connection to their Alma Mater.

A reminder: on June 26, diplomas were awarded to graduates of MRU’s Sudovian Academy in Marijampolė and Public Security Academy in Kaunas.

Once again, we congratulate our graduates and wish them great success on their career paths!
