The MRU Public Security Academy is to be visited by Professor Harald Christian Scheu, a human rights expert

The Public Security Academy at Mykolas Romeris University is hosting Prof. Dr. Harald Christian Scheu, a renowned human rights expert from the Czech Republic. Professors Birutė Pranevičienė and Violeta Vasiliauskienė organised the professor's visit with the aim of strengthening international cooperation and academic partnerships in the field of human rights.

MRU's friendship with Prof. Dr. Scheu has been ongoing for several years. It began in 2019 when cooperation was established at an international conference in Prague, and has grown steadily ever since. Prof. Dr. Scheu has visited Lithuania several times, lectured to students at the Public Security Academy, participated in roundtable discussions with the academic community and presented papers at scientific conferences organised by MRU. These meetings provide students with a unique opportunity to communicate directly with a leading expert and enable the academic community to expand its international contacts and scope of discussion.

Professor Harald Christian Scheu is a lecturer at Charles University in Prague. He holds several key positions within international and national institutions, including membership of the Council of Europe's Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities and the Czech Legislative Committee. His previous role on the Management Board of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights has given him in-depth knowledge and insight into the protection of human rights in a European context.

The MRU community is proud to collaborate with such a distinguished expert. The professor's visits provide an opportunity to gain international experience and contribute to the university's goal of educating broadly erudite, critical thinkers who are internationally minded and specialise in public security and law. Such partnerships are an excellent example of how academic connections can enrich the learning experience, broaden research horizons, and promote internationalism.
