From May 22 to June 21, 2025, the Faculty of Human and Social Studies at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) hosted an intensive Lithuanian Language and Culture course at the B1 level, designed for foreigners seeking to deepen their linguistic and cultural skills in Lithuania.

The month-long course brought together students and young professionals from a wide range of countries – Brazil, the Czech Republic, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Ukraine. Participants not only improved their Lithuanian language skills but also actively engaged in cultural activities that offered deeper insight into Lithuanian society, history, and contemporary life.

Language classes were taught by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vitalija Karaciejūtė, while cultural lectures were led by Prof. Dr. Romas Prakapas. Sessions were held both in traditional classroom settings and in real-life situations, allowing participants to apply their language skills practically: they made phone inquiries about apartment rentals, explored healthcare options, took part in a mock auction and fashion show, dubbed Lithuanian TV series, played out role-based scenarios, and discussed educational systems in different countries.

As part of the cultural program, students visited some of the most significant sites in Vilnius and learned about the city’s rich multicultural history. They also explored Lithuanian national symbols, traditions, and key milestones in the country’s historical development.

At the end of the course, all participants took a language proficiency exam, which was successfully passed by 21 individuals. They received certificates of completion, acknowledging not only their acquired knowledge of Lithuanian language and culture but also their personal growth in an international, multicultural environment.
