The European Reform University Alliance (ERUA) invites students to join the Blue Commission – an international student working group dedicated to strengthening sustainability and environmental protection in higher education.
For one year now, the Blue Commission has brought together students from ERUA universities who share a common goal: to make sustainability one of the main priorities of universities. By sharing experiences, perspectives and knowledge from different countries and fields of study, students develop real solutions to address the climate crisis within the academic environment.
Objectives of the Blue Commission
The Commission aims to:
- Promote the implementation of concrete measures that foster sustainability in higher education, based on the ERUA Student Manifesto for Sustainable Higher Education;
- Analyse different climate challenges in the countries of the ERUA alliance and develop effective actions at local and university level;
- Involve students in sustainability-oriented initiatives at universities and in cities, encouraging active citizenship through practices such as the circular economy.
In addition, the Blue Commission designs and implements various sustainable projects, including clothing exchanges, workshops, meetings with experts, lectures and other activities.
Who can participate?
The call is open to students of all study levels – bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral – from all ERUA universities who are interested in sustainability and environmental issues. Motivation, active involvement in activities and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment will be especially valued.
Each university must nominate at least two students. Those selected will participate in face-to-face and online meetings, contribute to the implementation of the Manifesto, organise activities, communicate with experts and mobilise the student community at local and European level.
How to apply?
Those interested are invited to complete the registration form by 23 January 2026. The selection will be carried out by current members of the Blue Commission, aiming to ensure diversity in terms of study fields and experience. Participants will be informed of the results shortly after the call closes.
