Search Underway for New MRU Council Member From Ranks of Academic Community

November 24th, 2022, the University Senate met and announced the deadline for nominations of one University Council member, appointed by the academic community. Deadline to submit applications is Jan. 19th, 2023.

The Council member will be elected according to the Senate's Sept. 16th, 2019 Procedure for establishing the council of Mykolas Romeris University approved by Resolution (hereinafter - the Procedure) and Article 27, Paragraphs 3-5 of the Law of the Republic of Lithuania on Science and Studies.

Documents can be submitted by candidates belonging to the University staff. The procedure stipulates that candidates for Council members are put forward by Faculty Councils, at least 10 members of the academic community, as well as a member of the academic community himself. Candidates for Council Members are registered by the Personnel Accounting Department of the University Personnel Management Center, to which a submission with the signatures of members of the academic community or an extract from the minutes of the Faculty Council meeting, are submitted. The candidate‘s written consent to run must also be submitted along with a resume.

The Law on Science and Studies stipulates that a person can be a member of the Council who has an impeccable reputation, knowledge and abilities that help to achieve the strategic goals of the higher education institution and implement the mission of the higher education institution. The President of the Republic can not be a Council member, neither can members of the European Parliament, members of the Seimas and the Government, municipal mayors and members of municipal councils, public servants of political (personal) trust, as well as employees of higher education institutions directly subordinate to the Rector, as well as institutions, companies or organizations where the higher education institution has at least 50 percent of the votes of all legal entity participants, managers and their deputies at the general meeting of participants. A member of the Senate cannot be a member of the Council.
