May 21st, 2015, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Rector Assoc. Prof. Algirdas Monkevičius invited the University community to an open discussion and presented his team.

The Team includes: Vice-Rector of Education Assoc. Prof. Giedrius Viliūnas, Vice-Rector for Research & Intl Relations Prof. Inga Žalėnienė, Vice-Rector for Development Stasys Vaitkevičius, PhD, Vice-Rector for Infrastructure Vladas Brakauskas and Chancellor Assoc. Prof. Saulius Spurga.

The Rector emphasized the need to cherish what has been created - a strong University with an emphasis on the social sciences.

"We have to work hard so as not to lose any students," the Rector said.

He said that there should be more attention focused on studies programmes. It is here that students meet with lecturers and others who assure their success. He said that some studies programmes overlap and there is a need to use the resources at hand more effectively.

There was discussion about the International Academic Research and Social Innovations Mobility Center, which will begin activities shortly. There are more than a dozen laboratories being set up to allow academics and doctoral students to conduct research.

Rector Monkevičius wished all Laboratory Heads much success in their undertakings.

"Let's try to make the University a place where you want to come and make sure it stays that way - so we can be proud of the University," the Rector said.

There were questions about the upcoming admissions of students, operation of the laboratories and trying to implement a one-window policy, so that there's one place to get all the answers. This would help free up academics and researchers from the paper bureaucracy so they can concentrate on teaching and research.

Rector A. Monkevičius was inducted on April 29th, 2015.
