On 7 December, a remote meeting with international MRU alumni took place. During the event, MRU representatives presented the university's study and research innovations, discussed new areas of cooperation and invited alumni developing their careers in different countries to become mentors. The meeting was attended by alumni from Australia, Bangaldesh, Ukraine, Turkey and other countries.

The alumni had the opportunity to interact with MRU management, programme managers and other alumni.

Welcoming the alumni, the Rector of MRU Prof. Dr. Inga Žalėniene noted that it is important for the university community how the professional path of MRU graduates develops.

"We value the experience of our alumni, your opinion about studies and your advice. We invite you to keep in close contact with your Alma Mater and invite your friends to get to know MRU if you are visiting Lithuania for work, study or other purposes. You are always welcome here," said Inga Žalėnienė, Rector of MRU and Vice President of the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA).

In a cosy and open remote event between alumni and representatives of the MRU academic community and administration, further cooperation opportunities, priorities and alumni engagement were discussed. Alumni warmly reminisced about their studies, met friends and lecturers they had seen long ago, expressed interest in the mentoring programme, and invited MRU students to undertake internships in the institutions and companies they represent. Desta G. Gebregziabher, an MRU alumnus from Australia, spoke about his experience in Australia, and Anyssa Fatmi from France wished the alumni to cooperate with the University, telling about her long history of studying and working at MRU.

Many MRU alumni are successfully developing their careers or setting up their own businesses further afield in Lithuania or other countries around the world.

It is expected that that these meetings will eventually lead to the formation of sustainable MRU alumni clubs, which will contribute to improving the quality of studies, supporting students and building professional networks.
