Public Lecture and Discussion at MRU: Getting Real with the Energy Trilemma: Fixing Europe’s Energy Security, Sustainability and Affordability Dilemma

On October 9, Mykolas Romeris University will host a public lecture by visiting professor Alan Riley titled “Getting Real with the Energy Trilemma: Fixing Europe’s Energy Security, Sustainability and Affordability Dilemma.” In his lecture, Professor Riley will examine how the European Union is progressing in energy transition and how this affects the energy security, sustainability, and affordability. The topic will be further explored in a follow-up discussion with experts in energy law.

About Professor Alan Riley and the Discussion Participants

Professor Alan Riley is a professor at the College of Europe (Natolin), a Senior Fellow at the international organization Atlantic Council (USA), and a member of the Advisory Committee of the Energy Community. He specializes in energy, trade, EU, and competition law and has published numerous academic articles on these topics. His commentary has appeared in The New York Times, The Financial Times, and The Wall Street Journal. Prof. Riley’s visit is supported under the granted Lithuanian national support scheme for funding the visits of guest lecturers.

Dr. Laura Rimšaitė is a researcher at the Law Institute of the Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences. Last year, she published a monograph titled “The Crossroads of Competition Law and Energy Regulation.”

Gailė Juozapaitytė-Gudžiūnė is currently an Associate Partner at the law firm TEGOS Legal and an attorney specializing in investment arbitration and energy law. She is a Harvard graduate.

The discussion will be moderated by Rita Paukštė, a lecturer at Mykolas Romeris University.
