University

At Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) in Marijampolė, Kaunas, and Vilnius, the introductory days “Discover Yourself at MRU” took place on September 2–3. This event marked a significant beginning of the academic journey for new students, offering an opportunity not only to get acquainted with the university but also to connect with peers, faculty representatives, and from the very first days of study, to become part of the MRU community.

The event was opened by MRU Rector Prof. Dr. Inga Žalėnienė, who warmly welcomed the freshmen and wished them success in their studies. Later, students attended lectures on one of the most important competencies for the future – the ability to learn – and were introduced to the Student Guide, which presented study processes and university services such as Moodle, the library, and other tools available to students.

During the introductory days, MRU freshmen in Vilnius and Kaunas had the opportunity to participate in a meeting-discussion with university alumni, who gladly shared their study experiences and career paths after graduation. In Vilnius, students met with psychologist Indrė Alkovskienė and Member of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Vytautas Kernagis, while in Kaunas, first-year students of the Academy of Public Security had a discussion with Nedas Dauderys, junior investigator of the 4th Division of the Kaunas County Police Headquarters Response Board; Aurėja Kaminskaitė, senior specialist of the Kaunas City Child Rights Protection Division; and Gabija Šimkūnaitė, a resocialization specialist working at Pravieniškės Prison No. 2.

The Student Representation introduced freshmen to opportunities for engaging in university activities, emphasizing the importance of developing leadership, volunteering, and teamwork skills.

The Community Well-being Center presented a variety of sports and art activities – from pilates, yoga, or volleyball to chess, dance, and singing lessons. Such extracurricular activities allow students to conveniently pursue their hobbies and find balance between studies and leisure in university spaces.

During the introductory days, students also got to know their faculties: administrative representatives presented the specifics of study programs, opportunities for international exchange and mentoring, as well as digital badges designed to mark achievements and encourage personal and academic growth at MRU.

The introductory days were crowned by the festive evening “Dance Vibes 35” with DJ Aivaras in the MRU inner courtyard – becoming a highlight of freshman integration and bringing the entire community together in a celebratory mood.
