Feb. 27th, 2020, the new Mykolas Romeris University Council elected Council Chairman Lithuania's former Constitutional Court and European Union Court of Justice Judge Law Prof. Dr. Egidijus Jarašiūnas. He replaces Chairman Roma Žakaitienė, who headed the Council since 2015. The entire MRU academic community's goal is one - the University moving forward and contributing consistently to the goals of public education reform implementation, he said. "There is a need to ensure continuity and not destroy what works well. Furthermore, it is important to continue on the path toward strengthening the University, reacting to the changing environment and responding to emerging studies and science challenges, noted Prof. Jarašiūnas. The Chairman said that the most important priority is and remains quality of studies and research. "The new Council will seek these goals guided by constructive discussions, consistent cooperation with the MRU Senate, the Rector and other persons," said Prof. Jarašiūnas. During the Council meeting, the 2020 budget was considered. It is important to note that the University budget remains balanced. In 2020, it is planned that there will be an increase in revenues. This will allow for student dormitory renovation next year and investments in effective institutional administrative processes.
