Following an international audit, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) has officially been awarded the FISU Healthy Campus Gold certification by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The recognition confirms the University's consistent commitment to creating a health-promoting study and work environment centred on the well-being of its community.

The decision was made by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), which implements the Healthy Campus programme aimed at promoting the physical, mental and social well-being of university communities worldwide.

In the previous stage of the evaluation, MRU was awarded Bronze status. Following a comprehensive audit and final assessment, the University achieved 84 out of 100 points, earning the higher Gold certification. The highest level of recognition within the programme is Platinum.

International Recognition of Quality

The Healthy Campus Gold certification is awarded to universities that meet high standards across six key areas: physical activity, nutrition, mental health, social well-being, environmental sustainability, and health literacy.

This recognition confirms that the well-being of MRU students and staff is an integral part of the University's culture. MRU is committed to creating an environment where health, an active lifestyle and a strong sense of community are embedded in study, work and campus life.

A Recognition that Inspires Further Progress

For MRU, the FISU Healthy Campus Gold certification is not only an international recognition but also a strong incentive to further strengthen initiatives promoting health, physical activity, emotional well-being and community engagement.

The certification also reaffirms that health and well-being at MRU are not standalone initiatives but an integral part of the University's long-term approach to creating a supportive academic environment.

"This recognition is of great importance to us because it acknowledges the collective efforts of our entire community – students, academic staff, researchers, administrative employees, and all members of the wider University community – who contribute every day to creating an open, healthy, supportive and inclusive environment. At MRU, we strive to be a place where people enjoy studying, working, growing and being together. The FISU Healthy Campus Gold certification confirms that we are moving in the right direction, while also inspiring us to further strengthen the physical, emotional and social well-being of every member of our community," says Prof. Dr Inga Žalėnienė, Rector of Mykolas Romeris University.

She adds that this international recognition reflects not only strategic investments in infrastructure but also the University's long-term institutional commitment to fostering a healthy, active and engaged academic community.

"We are extremely proud to be the first university in Lithuania to receive the FISU Healthy Campus Gold certification. For us, this recognition is not only an acknowledgement of our daily work but also a strong motivation to continue developing physical activity, university sports, and emotional and social well-being," emphasises Dr Vilma Miglinė, Head of the Community Well-being Centre.

She also notes that the certification reinforces the University's commitment to further expanding opportunities for students and staff to participate in sports and well-being activities, while integrating health promotion even more deeply into everyday university life.
