MRU Lecturer from U.S. Schimmels and Students Visited Gymnasiums

April 26th, 2017, MRU "Translation and Editing" and "English for Specific Purposes and the Second Foreign Language" programme Lecturer Kristina Schimmels from Oklahoma (U.S.) and two students visited the Švenčionėlių Mindaugo and Švenčionių Zigmo Žemaičio gymnasiums.

The students included Margarita Vozniouk from Israel and Paulina Tručinskaitė.

Lecturer Schimmels, who has lived in Lithuania for the last 4 years, discussed her Indian Choctaw heritage.

Pupils learned more about her Tribe, its history, and its traditions. She herself has not only German, but Scottish and Indian blood. She has an identity card, issued in the U.S. attesting that she is a Native American Indian.

Schimmels arrived at MRU 4 years ago from China. She currently teaches Linguistics and Foreign Language Teaching Methods at MRU.

MRU students Margarita and Paulina told pupils about studies in MRU language programmes, where students study English and another foreign language (French, German, Norwegian, Spanish, Korean).

There was also information about double degree programmes and the possibility to study abroad in universities, according to the Erasmus Exchange programme.
