At the semiannual conference of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP), held from April 29 to May 1, special attention was given to interinstitutional cooperation and the search for joint solutions.

Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) actively engaged in these initiatives and, together with foreign higher education institutions, signed memorandums of understanding aimed at strengthening academic ties and expanding opportunities for international collaboration.

The signed agreements cover a wide range of activities: student and faculty exchanges, recognition of academic credits, sharing of study materials and academic information, and the implementation of joint research. Plans also include organizing joint seminars, academic meetings, and short-term training programs.

MRU Rector Prof. Dr. Inga Žalėnienė signed cooperation agreements with the following partners:

  • International University Foundation of the American Tropics (Colombia), represented by Rector Dr. Oriol Jiménez Silva
  • Caucasus University (Georgia), represented by President Prof. Dr. Kakha Shengelia
  • Georgian International University GIU (Georgia), represented by Rector Prof. Eliso Elisashvili
  • Tanioka Gakuen Educational Foundation (Japan), represented by President Prof. Dr. Ichiro Tanioka
  • International Open University (The Gambia), represented by Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Makie Taal
  • UNI – Universum International College (Kosovo), represented by Executive Director Alejtin Berisha
  • University of Donja Gorica (Montenegro), represented by Rector Prof. Dr. Veselin Vukotić
  • Seoul Cyber University (Republic of Korea), represented by President Prof. Dr. Eunjoo Lee
  • California State University, San Bernardino (USA), represented by President Dr. Tomás Morales
  • SIMAD University (Somalia), represented by Rector Dr. Abdikarim Mohaidin Ahmed

“International partnerships today are not a choice but a necessity. The signed agreements open up new opportunities for our community—from studies and research to the development of real solutions together with partners worldwide. We aim for MRU students and faculty to be active members of the global academic community,” said MRU Rector Prof. Dr. Inga Žalėnienė.

With some partners, it was agreed to develop joint activities in specific fields of study and research—law, public administration, business administration and management, economics and finance, political science and international relations, psychology, communication and media studies, and information technology. Plans also include the creation of double-degree programs and the implementation of joint doctoral research.

It is important to note that during the conference, other participating universities also signed cooperation agreements among themselves, further strengthening the international academic network.

The signed memoranda will significantly contribute to strengthening MRU’s internationalization and will open new opportunities for students, faculty, and researchers. The expanding partner network will create favorable conditions for gaining international experience, participating in joint research projects, developing innovative study programs, and enhancing the quality of academic research.

It is expected that active cooperation with foreign higher education institutions will not only promote the exchange of knowledge and best practices but also contribute to addressing global challenges, strengthen the role of universities in society, and increase the attractiveness of studies in the international arena.

MRU will continue to purposefully develop strategic partnerships that create long-term value for the academic community and society.
