On June 26, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) launched its graduation ceremony season. This year, it began not in the capital but in MRU’s regional academic units – the Public Security Academy (PSA) in Kaunas and the Sudovian Academy (SUA) in Marijampolė. Although these units have different areas of focus, both are united by a common goal: to educate professionals capable of making an impact both nationally and locally. This decision reflects the university’s ambition to be more accessible to all of Lithuania and to build a sustainable academic environment not only in Vilnius but also in the regions.
For the first time, this year’s graduates wore new MRU academic gowns. The contemporary design of the attire added a sense of unity and academic dignity to the ceremony, while the graduate processions offered a visual representation of what a modern university stands for: a unifying, recognizable institution that upholds academic values.
Kaunas: Diplomas for Public Security Professionals
At the Public Security Academy, diplomas were awarded to 48 graduates – 24 at the master’s level and 10 at the bachelor’s level. Another 14 bachelor’s diplomas will be awarded on June 27 in Vilnius. The Dean of the Academy, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mantas Bileišis, emphasized the significance of studies for the state:
“You have completed your studies at the Public Security Academy, where we strive to educate individuals who care about strengthening the state. Your future professional success in addressing threats to us all – be it national security, crime, or environmental pollution – is a prerequisite for the success of all other citizens. We believe in you and are proud of you!”
MRU Vice-Rector Dr. Eglė Malinauskienė encouraged graduates to maintain their connection with their Alma Mater and to ground their professional knowledge in human empathy:
“Know that we are proud of each and every one of you and will always welcome you back – to share your successes, experiences, ideas, and sometimes your concerns. So today, along with your diploma, we are also giving you an invitation to join the Mykolas Romeris University alumni community. I encourage you to accept it and always remember that Mykolas Romeris University is your Alma Mater!”
Graduates were congratulated by Chief Prosecutor of the Kaunas Regional Prosecutor’s Office Rimas Bradūnas and Head of the Training Division of the State Border Guard Service Personnel Board, Dovilė Rožanskienė.
Marijampolė: Strengthening the Region’s Knowledge Infrastructure
On the same day, diplomas were also awarded at the Sudovian Academy in Marijampolė – the first graduation ceremony held at this academic unit. This year, SUA graduated 109 students in fields such as law, education, social work, and others. The Academy not only strengthens MRU’s presence in the region but also helps to establish a local knowledge hub. According to Dean Dr. Raimonda Bogužaitė, this academic year brought significant changes that required courage, determination, and unity.
“The establishment of the Sūduva Academy reflects the uniqueness of our region and symbolizes our ambition to become a modern and strong center of knowledge. The university brings together wise individuals who have a thirst for lifelong learning and who contribute to building the region, strengthening the local community, and expanding its outlook,” said Dr. Bogužaitė, expressing pride in the students who successfully completed their studies. “I believe they grew and matured not only as professionals but also as individuals. I hope they will continue their academic journey at Mykolas Romeris University, remain active alumni, and return to the Sudovian Academy with their success stories.”
MRU Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saulius Spurga also addressed the graduates, urging them to continue on their path of learning:
“The university has provided you with a wealth of knowledge and skills – I wish you success in applying them meaningfully in your lives and careers. May this journey never end: continue learning throughout your life and return to your Alma Mater for further studies, as lecturers, or as social partners!”
The ceremony was attended by Marijampolė Municipality Mayor Povilas Isoda, Indra Ščiglinskienė, advisor to Member of the Seimas Karolis Podolskis, Chairman of the Academy Council Klemencas Agentas, and chaplain Dr. Kęstutis Žemaitis.
Mykolas Romeris University warmly congratulates all its graduates. We are proud of your achievements, perseverance, and the challenges you have overcome. May the knowledge and experience you have gained become a strong foundation for your professional journey, and may your connection with your Alma Mater remain alive and meaningful. Wishing you success as you build a future filled with purposeful work, personal growth, and constant discovery!
