On 29-30 January, graduation ceremonies were held in Vilnius and Kaunas, during which diplomas of Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) were ceremoniously awarded to graduates of the Public Security Academy (PSA), the Law School (LS), the Faculty of Human and Social Studies (FHSS), and the Faculty of Public Governance and Business (FPGB). A total of 393 graduation diplomas were awarded during the ceremonies.

The diploma award ceremonies were attended by the Rector of MRU, Vice-Rectors, faculty deans, distinguished guests, graduates, university academic staff, and administrative employees.

MRU Rector Prof. Dr Inga Žalėnienė noted that the diploma obtained by graduates attests not only to the knowledge they have acquired, but also to their perseverance, maturity, and readiness to operate in today’s complex world. Congratulating the graduates, Prof. Dr Žalėnienė encouraged them not to be afraid of new and as yet unexplored professional paths.

“I wish you the courage to choose new paths, the wisdom to make sound decisions, and faith in what you do. May this diploma become an incentive to continue building a meaningful and successful future,” said the Rector of MRU.

Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Dr. Eglė Malinauskienė emphasised that the celebration brought together both professionals at the beginning of their careers and those already possessing considerable professional experience. Congratulating the new graduates of the University, Dr. Malinauskienė expressed her conviction that the knowledge gained during studies, the time spent in the academic environment, and the people encountered along the way constituted a meaningful and valuable investment by the students, and wished them to preserve their inner moral compass and core values.

“I wish you success in maintaining your inner moral principles and values both in your professional careers and personal lives, as these form the foundation of your personal resilience as well as the resilience and security of our society as a whole,” the Vice-Rector stated.

Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr Saulius Spurga highlighted that higher education provides graduates with opportunities to realise their creativity, expand their professional prospects, and deepen their understanding of themselves and the world around them. Congratulating the graduates, he wished them determination in pursuing their goals and expressed hope that some of them would return to the University in the future to continue their studies or engage in further cooperation.

“I encourage you to pursue your goals with confidence and to become leaders in your respective fields. I believe that many of you will return to the University – to continue your studies, deepen your knowledge, conduct research, teach, or cooperate as social partners, thus contributing to the growth of our academic community,” stated Assoc. Prof. Dr Spurga.

Prior to the awarding of diplomas, the new alumni of the University were also congratulated by the deans of the faculties.

Dean of the Public Security Academy Dr. Mantas Bileišis noted that today’s labour market is a dynamic environment marked by technological change, challenges, and uncertainty, and encouraged graduates not to be discouraged by emerging difficulties and innovations. According to him, future public security professionals are well prepared to meet these challenges.

“You will soon be holding diplomas certifying the qualification of a lawyer, which demonstrate your ability to master particularly complex subjects. I encourage you to retain this ability so that future changes become a source of joy, opportunity, and life experience,” said the Dean of the Public Security Academy.

Vice-Dean for Studies of the Law School, Acting Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Lina Novikovienė emphasised that the University is not merely a place of study or an institution providing knowledge and practical skills, but an academic community of which graduates remain a part even after completing their studies. Congratulating the new alumni, Prof. Dr. Novikovienė underscored the importance of courage in decision-making, the ability to learn from mistakes, and responsibility for one’s choices.

“I wish you the courage and determination necessary for a focused and successful professional path. Do not be afraid to make decisions, to make mistakes, and to take responsibility, even when certain challenges may initially raise doubts. New experiences and complex tasks foster personal maturity and strengthen professional competencies,” stated the Prof. Dr. Lina Novikovienė.

Dean of the Faculty of Human and Social Studies Prof. Dr. Odeta Merfeldaitė noted that a diploma is not only proof of achievements, but also a key that opens new professional opportunities. Expressing satisfaction with the graduates’ development of critical thinking and teamwork skills during their studies, she encouraged them to continue pursuing their goals consistently.

“Great journeys almost always begin with a very simple step: one conversation, one CV, one ‘let’s try’. This is not a small beginning – it is a true beginning,” said the Dean of FHSS.

Dean of the Faculty of Public Governance and Business Prof. Dr Danguolė Jankauskienė congratulated the graduates and wished them success in their further professional paths, emphasising that the diplomas awarded serve as evidence of graduates’ ability to adapt and act purposefully in a constantly changing labour market environment.

“The achievements of this year’s graduates reflect a focused study process, high academic standards, and the growing international dimension of the Faculty. The diplomas attest not only to the qualifications acquired, but also to readiness to operate in a complex and continuously evolving public and business governance environment,” stated the Dean of FPGB.

During the ceremonies, higher education diplomas were awarded as follows: 124 diplomas of the Public Security Academy (121 Bachelor’s and 3 Master’s), 75 diplomas of the Law School (53 Bachelor’s, 21 Master’s, and 1 Doctoral), 107 diplomas of the Faculty of Human and Social Studies (88 Bachelor’s, 12 Master’s, and 7 professional study certificates with a teaching qualification), and 87 diplomas of the Faculty of Public Governance and Business (12 Bachelor’s, 73 Master’s, and 2 Doctoral).

In addition, three Leadership Diplomas were awarded – one to a Bachelor’s graduate of the Law School and two to Master’s graduates of the Faculty of Public Governance and Business.

Once again, we congratulate all graduates and wish them every success in their future careers.
