Imagine this: on your first day at university, you’re greeted not only with a smile but also with an environment free of barriers. Ramps leading to lecture halls, automatic doors, elevators – everything is designed to help you begin your academic journey without obstacles and with full confidence.
At MRU, inclusion is not just a nice word – it’s everyday reality. Here, every student, regardless of disability or individual needs, is given equal opportunities.
“Our priority is to ensure that every student feels like a valued member of the community. We want them to find not barriers, but opportunities to learn, create, and grow together with others,” says MRU Head of Personnel Performance Office Anželika Vėžienė. “And we see opportunities in a very broad and holistic way – it’s not only about accessible infrastructure, but also about a friendly, supportive attitude toward each student, the willingness to find the best learning approach, and offering coaching sessions that help students use their strengths with confidence and discover their own unique path to education.”

MRU provides individual consultations to help find the right solution for each student: for one, it may be extra time for exams; for another, adapted lecture halls or special software. What matters most is that the path to studies remains open and accessible.
One of the most valuable discoveries awaits in the library – students can access audiobooks, materials prepared in DAISY format, and specialized reading devices. This library becomes not just a place for learning, but also a space for independence.

Financial support is also real, not just a formality. Social and targeted benefits, scholarships, and special funds provide peace of mind and allow students to focus on their studies.
The number of students making use of these opportunities continues to grow. In 2022, MRU had 46 students with disabilities; a year later, the number increased to 67, and recently it has risen by several dozen more. This shows that the university is becoming increasingly open and accessible.
Emotional well-being is equally important. The MRU Psychological Counseling Center offers free consultations that help students overcome everyday challenges and feel safe. At MRU, care is given not only to knowledge, but also to the individual.
And this is just the beginning – conference halls, reading rooms, restrooms, and other spaces are constantly being improved and adapted so that every student can live and study without restrictions.

MRU’s message is clear: learning has no boundaries. Here, everyone belongs.
