Oct. 17th, 2022, Lithuania’s Minister of Education, Science and Sport Jurgita Šiugždinienė met with the Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) community during a visit to the University’s campus. Relevant educational issues were discussed, planned changes were presented and answers to the community’s questions were provided.

Minister Šiugždinienė made a presentation to a packed auditorium full of students, lecturers and MRU staff. She presented perspectives of ensuring general education, higher education and lifelong learning.

The Minister acquainted the community with the Ministry’s work and changes made in order to achieve the highest quality in studies, international and accessible studies, world-class research achievements and efficient administration of the studies and research system.

Šiugždinienė also discussed the reform of the Research Council of Lithuania, the plan for strengthening the network of colleges, strengthening Educational Sciences and other relevant issues dealing with education and research policy.

MRU academics and students actively participated in the event. They were happy to be able to directly and openly discuss their concerns with the Minister.

Members of the MRU community raised topical issues dealing with unequal funding of research and studies, improvement of the research and studies process, study and science evaluation criteria, student internship payment questions, increased energy costs, continuity of support for Ukrainian students and lecturers and other relevant issues.
