Law Grad Iliukas’ 2016 Master’s Thesis Ranked Among the Best

Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Law Faculty graduate Edvinas Iliukas' Master's thesis was ranked among the best, according to Lithuania's Supreme Court, which selected the Best 2016 Master's Degree theses. Iliukas' thesis, "Criminal Court Process When the Accused is not Present: Theoretical and Practical Aspects," placed 2nd among 12 Master's papers. First place went to Vilnius University (VU) Law Faculty graduate Karolis Vaičekauskas. Two graduates were singled out for 3rd place: Ramunė Steponavičiūtė – „"Analysis of Misappropriation of Authorship" and MRU graduate Indra Kalvionytė's, „The Right of Personal Images in the Media.“ The selection Commission was composed of Lithuania's Supreme Court Justices and university representatives. Supreme Court Chairman Rimvydas Norkus, congratulated the winners and noted the importance of the competition. "First, the aim of the competition is to bring law practice and theory closer together. Fostering cooperation with Vilnius University's (VU) Law Faculty, MRU's Law Faculty and the Law Faculty of Vytautas Magnus (VDU), we seek to encourage Master's Degree students to prepare great theses, delve deeper into law theory and practical problems and encourage cooperation as well as interest in contemporary legal issues....noted Norkus. Lithuanian Supreme Court Justice Dalia Vasarienė, one of the Commission members, said all the selected papers were worthy of being selected the Best. "The cream of the crop gathered here. You are undoubtedly among the best among your peers," said VU Law Faculty Dean Tomas Davulis.
