
On May 19–23, a group of doctoral students from the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Kazakhstan (Astana, Kazakhstan) visited the Institute of Public Administration at the Faculty of Public Governance and Business of Mykolas Romeris University (MRU). During their visit, the Kazakhstani doctoral students took part in an introductory internship aimed at deepening their understanding of Lithuania’s public governance, economic and social policy, cybersecurity challenges, and local government system.
Lectures were delivered and insights shared by MRU professors: Prof. Dr. Andrius Stasiukynas, Prof. Dr. Vainius Smalskys, Prof. Dr. Ona Gražina Rakauskienė, Prof. Dr. Marius Laurinaitis, Prof. Dr. Arvydas Guogis, and Prof. Dr. Algirdas Astrauskas.
In addition to academic activities at the university, the guests from Kazakhstan visited the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation of the Republic of Lithuania, where they were received by the ministry’s chancellor Eglė Radišauskienė. They also visited the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, where they engaged in discussions with the Head of the Public Governance and Local Government Policy Group, Alma Bulkevičienė, Chief Adviser Virginijus Vaškelis, and other ministry representatives.
The doctoral students also visited the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, where they discussed citizen and community involvement in public governance with Member of Parliament Kęstutis Vilkauskas.
The international internship was coordinated by MRU professors Prof. Dr. Vainius Smalskys and Prof. Dr. Andrius Stasiukynas. Representatives of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Kazakhstan expressed sincere gratitude for the professionally organized programme and voiced hopes for continued mutually beneficial cooperation with MRU.
