On August 1, 2025, the graduation ceremony for the third cohort of the European Joint Master’s Programme “Social Work with Children and Youth” (ESWOCHY) was held at Iscte University in Lisbon.

During the formal event, diplomas were awarded to 14 students from various countries who successfully completed the four-semester, 120 ECTS credit programme. The ceremony was attended by representatives from all four universities implementing the programme – vice-rectors and programme coordinators from Lithuania, Latvia, Portugal, and Slovakia. Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) was represented by the main ESWOCHY programme coordinator Prof. Dr. Raminta Bardauskienė and MRU Vice-Rector for Studies Prof. Dr. Natalija Kaminskienė.

ESWOCHY is an international joint master’s programme launched in 2020 and jointly implemented by Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania), Riga Stradins University (Latvia), Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon (Portugal), and the Catholic University in Ružomberok (Slovakia). The programme is funded under the Erasmus Mundus scheme and aims to train highly qualified professionals capable of working in international and intercultural environments of social work with children and youth.

One of the programme’s key features is its mobility principle: students spend each semester in a different country, deepening their academic knowledge while experiencing diverse social work practices. In addition to attending lectures, students actively participate in social activities, prepare scientific publications, attend conferences, and complete international internships. Upon graduation, they are awarded a joint diploma recognized by all four universities.

“Humanism, intercultural understanding, and digital innovation – these are the values promoted by the ESWOCHY programme and wholeheartedly supported by Mykolas Romeris University. We are proud to see the graduates of this programme become professionals in their fields, capable of acting in a global environment and making a difference in the lives of children and youth around the world,” says Prof. Dr. Natalija Kaminskienė, Vice-Rector for Studies at MRU.
