Graduates (29) of the first Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Prevention programme in Lithuania successfully completed the course - three months after it started, and were awarded certificates. Graduates had to pass a final exam at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU).

The competence certification programme was prepared in cooperation with MRU along with the Ministry of Finance and the Money Laundering Prevention Competence Center (PPKC).

Competences and knowledge acquired during the courses in the programme will allow certified specialists to successfully enter the ever-growing market in this field and contribute to ensuring effective risk management in the financial sector.

"Taking into account the market trends, we took the initiative and together with our partners created an innovative competence programme, which opens up opportunities for students to acquire knowledge in the field of money laundering prevention, and for businesses to attract competent specialists,” said Deputy Minister of Finance Vaida Markevičienė.

Sustainable growth of the financial sector is impossible without effective risk management, she said. Therefore specialists prepared for the market will help overcome emerging challenges in the financial sector more effectively and will contribute to the creation of a more resilient Lithuania, noted the Deputy Minister of Finance.

There were 29 students who successfully passed the exam and completed the course. The programme will be continuous and offered in the future.

During the 1st quarter of 2023 there will be an announcement about a date for a new group of students to begin their studies.
