From June 4 to 6, 2025, Mykolas Romeris University, together with other members of the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA), took part in high-level meetings hosted by the Europa-Universität Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder). The event, titled “Vision Forward: ERUA Governance, Strategy & Impact,” brought together members of the ERUA Steering Committee and Board of Rectors from the alliance’s eight member universities.
Mykolas Romeris University was represented by Rector Prof. Dr. Inga Žalėnienė, Vice-Rector for Studies Prof. Dr. Natalija Kaminskienė, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation dr. Eglė Malinauskienė, Head of Strategic Partnerships Dr. Jolanta Bieliauskaitė, as well as other members of the university community.
Throughout the three-day event, participants engaged in workshops and strategic foresight sessions aimed at strengthening institutional cooperation, promoting open science, and fostering student-centered innovation across the alliance.
Setting an inspiring tone for the Board of Rectors meeting, pianist and composer Søren Gundermann performed his original piece “Europe Variations” live. The musical performance served as a profound artistic expression of ERUA’s mission—reflecting unity, complexity, and cultural dialogue across borders.
As part of the event, the ERUA delegation was welcomed by Claus Junghanns, Mayor of Frankfurt (Oder), who emphasized the city’s strong commitment to international cooperation, academic exchange, and its dynamic role as a European border city. During an engaging discussion, the Mayor highlighted opportunities for deeper collaboration between the city and ERUA universities—especially in promoting civic engagement, student integration, and cross-border initiatives with neighboring Poland.
As the conference concluded, ERUA reaffirmed its strategic goals and outlined the next steps toward further developing its governance framework and preparing for future initiatives.
