April 8th, 2015, the Council of Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) selected and unanimously approved Politics and Management Faculty Dean Assoc. Prof. Algirdas Monkevičius Rector.

He was approved for a 5-year term.

Dean Assoc. Prof. Monkevičius has served as Education Minister of Lithuania. From 2010 March he has been Dean of the Politics and Management Faculty.

There were three other candidates to the post: Assoc. Prof. Marius Lanskoronskis, dr. Saulius Norvaišas and dr. Mantas Varaška. At the last minute Varaška withdrew from the race.
