The European Women Rectors Association (EWORA) announces a call for nominations to participate in the EWORA Academic Leadership and Mentoring Programme for Women (2026–2027). This is an international one-year programme designed for experienced academic leaders who seek to strengthen their leadership competencies in the higher education sector.
The programme is aimed at women holding positions such as vice-rector, dean, or other equivalent senior academic leadership roles. Participants are invited to deepen their strategic and values-based leadership skills, engage in an individual mentoring process, take part in international exchanges, and expand their professional academic networks in Europe and beyond.
The EWORA programme seeks to create a safe and professional space for reflection, exchange of experience, and long-term strengthening of academic leadership potential, taking into account diverse institutional, national, and international contexts.
Programme duration and format
The programme will run from March 2026 to January 2027 and will be implemented primarily online. The only in-person activity will be a practical session held on 9 June 2026 in Brussels, organized during the EWORA Conference. Participation in this session is mandatory.
Submission of nominations
- Call period: from November 2025 to 15 January 2026
- Required documents:
– a short CV of the candidate
– a letter of institutional support - Who may submit nominations: the university rector or an officially authorized senior management representative (e.g. vice-rector)
Selection will be carried out by an international committee composed of women rectors, aiming to form a balanced and diverse group of participants.
Participation conditions
- EWORA member institutions: up to 2 nominations; participation is free of charge;
- Non-EWORA member institutions: up to 2 nominations; a fee of EUR 300 per selected candidate;
- Travel and accommodation costs in Brussels for participating candidates are covered by their home institutions.
