
On 4 June, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) was visited by Prof. Dr Islambek Rustambekov, Acting Rector of Tashkent National Law University. In a meeting with Dr. Eglė Malinauskienė, MRU Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, and the Law School's research team, Prof. Dr. Islambek Rustambekov presented the University's research and innovation activities, implemented research support programmes, and opportunities for cooperation in the areas of legal regulation of legal technologies, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, as well as mediation and alternative dispute resolution.
Dr Dovilė Sagatienė, Vice-Dean of the MRU School of Law, presented post-doctoral applications with MRU researchers, planned high-level collective monographs and publication opportunities in internationally recognised academic journals.
Prof. Agnė Tvaronavičienė, Head of the Mediation and Sustainable Dispute Laboratory, presented mediation research and the Law School's Masters programmes in this field.
In turn, the Director of the Institute of Public Law, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Juozas Valčiukas, presented the study opportunities of the implemented Bachelor's programme in Law and Global Security and invited to participate in next year's international conference.
The participants agreed on concrete actions and measures to strengthen scientific cooperation between the two countries.
The Tashkent National Law University is the main institution of higher education in Uzbekistan for training lawyers, shaping legal traditions and contributing to law-making in the country. The MRU has been working with this partner since 2020: mobility activities for students, lecturers and researchers, joint submission of projects for research funding and an agreement on cooperation in the field of Master of Laws studies.
