Project Objective: to include the voices of excluded and marginalized communities (including local and local communities) from Greenland, Lithuania and Sápmi in discussions on the Nordic and Baltic green transition strategy.
Project Summary: EnJustice focuses on the concept of Transformative Environmental Justice (TEJ), which emphasizes the recognition of historical injustices against marginalized groups and seeks broader societal change. The project analyzes the social, institutional and power relations that drive climate change and biodiversity loss and influence green transformation solutions.
It also seeks to change established relationships between decision-makers (government institutions, business) and communities, showing that until now the knowledge of local residents and those at the forefront of climate battles has often been undervalued.
The project emphasizes that the opportunities for inclusion of communities in different Nordic countries depend on the political system, the strength of civil society, the situation of local peoples and the conditions for freedom of expression.
The project is funded by the NordForsk Foundation.
