Orientation Day for Joint Master’s Programme Students at Mykolas Romeris University

The spring semester at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) has begun with the arrival of students enrolled in two international joint Master’s programmes: Erasmus Mundus GOALS (Governance & Administration of Leisure and Sports) and Legal Regulation of Public Administration and Human Rights, implemented in cooperation with the National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv, Ukraine. These programmes bring together students from different countries and academic backgrounds, fostering an international learning environment and the development of intercultural competencies.

This year marks a special milestone for the GOALS programme, welcoming its largest cohort to date – 17 students representing 17 different countries, highlighting the growing international visibility and attractiveness of the programme.
On February 3, the International Office organised an Orientation Day, during which students were introduced to MRU’s academic and non-academic activities, study organisation, and support services available throughout their studies. The event aimed to help new students feel welcomed, informed, and prepared for their academic journey at MRU.

During the official part of the programme, the students were welcomed by Prof. Vilma Čingienė, Programme Director of the GOALS programme, who delivered welcoming remarks on behalf of the Faculty of Public Governance and Business and wished students a successful and inspiring start to their studies.

The students of the Legal Regulation of Public Administration and Human Rights programme were greeted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jolanta Apolewicz, Vice-Dean for International Relations and International Studies at the School of Law, who emphasized the importance of international legal education and encouraged students to actively engage in the academic community.

Welcoming words were also delivered by Audra Dargytė Burokienė, Head of the International Office, who highlighted the university’s commitment to international students and the support structures available to them throughout their studies.
Throughout the day, students were introduced to both academic and non-academic activities at the university, received practical information relevant to their studies and daily life, and participated in a guided tour of the MRU Library and sports facilities, allowing them to become familiar with key study and wellbeing spaces on campus.

The Orientation Day provided a valuable opportunity for students to meet university staff, connect with fellow students, and gain a first insight into academic life at Mykolas Romeris University. It is expected that this experience will support a smooth integration into the University community and contribute to a rewarding and enriching study experience at MRU.
