Researchers from Mykolas Romeris University (MRU), together with Vilnius District Municipality and 30 other organisations from 13 countries, have launched the project “Transforming Peri-Urban Mobility through Data and Innovation” (BIO-INTEL-MOB).

The project is funded under the European Union’s research and innovation programme "Horizon Europe", which aims to develop a climate-neutral, data-driven and citizen-centred peri-urban mobility system.

The BIO-INTEL-MOB project integrates residents’ mobility data, artificial intelligence analytics, peri-urban mobility hubs, environmentally friendly and safe routes, as well as circular logistics solutions. By leveraging these innovations, the international project team seeks to create more advanced and sustainable mobility services.

In addition, the project team will introduce new tools for participatory governance, including a citizen-engagement app, VR/AR interfaces, and a Knowledge Hub that will support local authorities in planning, replicating, and scaling innovative mobility solutions across Europe.

The project team aims to:

– Improve multimodal mobility and accessibility
– Enhance safety and inclusiveness for all users
– Reduce emissions through intelligent routing and green logistics
– Empower cities with data-driven, citizen-focused decision-making.

Project Coordinator – Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), MRU project leader prof. dr. Dangis Gudelis.
