On 12-16 January, the kick-off meeting of the project “SAFE LEARN” (ERASMUS-EDU-2025-CBHE*) took place at the Public Security Academy of Mykolas Romeris University (MRU). The project is led by Kateryna Polupanova.

During the meeting, Vilija Mockuvienė, Mayor's Public Relations Advisor, Kėdainiai District, met with representatives of Tavria State Agro-Technological University (Ukraine), who previously worked in Melitopol. Due to the occupation of the city, the university was forced to relocate to Zaporizhzhia.

Prof. Daryja Legeza of Tavria State Agro-Technological University shared firsthand accounts of the occupation of the city, including reports of torture and muders of civilians. She also presented a book-album published by Yuliya Tveritina, documenting the tragedy of the city of Melitopol. In response, V. Mockuvienė invited the guest to visit Kėdainiai, the Lithuanian Capital of Culture in 2026, and to take part in the city’s cultural events.

* The SAFE LEARN project is dedicated to the urgent need for trauma-sensitive and adaptive education in Ukrainian higher education institutions affected by war, forced displacement and protracted crises. The initiative focuses on strengthening the capacity of university lecturers to implement innovative, student-centered and trauma-informed teaching methods that support the psychological well-being, academic performance and social integration of students experiencing war-related challenges.
