This year, Mykolas Romeris University's (MRU) partner Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University (BSU) in Georgia is celebrating an impressive 90th anniversary. To mark this occasion, the BSU Academic Council, based on a nomination by the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to MRU Law School Professor Dr. Lyra Jakulevičienė.

This high recognition acknowledges Prof. Dr. Lyra Jakulevičienė’s long-standing contribution to strengthening the university’s internationalization, expanding international study programs, and developing new study initiatives, all while actively fostering the partnership between MRU and BSU.

“Global challenges require not only national competencies, but also a broader approach to legal studies. By studying at a national and foreign university under a joint program, young lawyers can best prepare to address the challenges of today and tomorrow. I feel very privileged to take part in creating these opportunities. I express my sincere gratitude to the entire BSU academic community for your trust and acknowledgement of our common efforts,” says Prof. Dr. Lyra Jakulevičienė.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, with nearly 6,500 students and 600 academic staff, is one of the leading public universities in the region. BSU not only maintains traditional, fundamental fields of study but also actively develops new ones in response to the rapidly changing global environment.

We congratulate BSU on its anniversary and extend our gratitude to Prof. Dr. Lyra Jakulevičienė for her contribution to strengthening international academic cooperation. This Doctor Honoris Causa recognition is not only a personal achievement but also part of the success of the MRU community.
