On 9–11 December, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) and the Vilnius City Municipality will host an international intensive training event dedicated to strengthening circular economy competences in higher education institutions in Ukraine and Moldova. The international conference is organised within the framework of the Erasmus+ project PubCirEco, coordinated by MRU.

The three-day programme will include lectures on sustainability in the university environment, circular economy solutions in the public sector, innovative teaching methods, international business practices, and the EU Green Deal. The event will bring together more than 60 lecturers, students, and researchers from Lithuania, Ukraine, Moldova, Austria, Estonia, Denmark, Slovakia, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates.

The event will open with welcome remarks from Prof. Dr. Danguolė Jankauskienė, Dean of the MRU Faculty of Public Governance and Business, and Prof. Dr. Birutė Mockevičienė, the project leader. The programme will feature presentations on university sustainability challenges, the development of circular business models, public sector transformation, and problem-based learning.

On 11 December, the activities will move to the Vilnius City Municipality, where the event will become an official part of the “Vilnius – European Green Capital 2025” programme. Representatives of international companies will deliver presentations, and sessions will highlight opportunities for developing green competences and youth career pathways in sustainability.

According to the project leader, Prof. Dr. Birutė Mockevičienė, “This is not only an academic internship for our partners from Ukraine and Moldova but also a real platform where science, policy, business, and youth come together. The circular economy is not just a theory – it is becoming a new model of action, and we are preparing future experts to lead this change.”

Participants will receive international certificates, and the research and teaching collaboration initiated during the event will continue across partner universities in Ukraine and Moldova.
