From September 23 to 25, the SOCIN’25 international conference “Rethinking Innovation: Inclusive Practices and Interdisciplinary Perspectives” is taking place at the University of Macerata (Italy). The event is organized by the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA) in cooperation with the Safina-Vitality project.
This year’s conference brings together academics, researchers, policymakers, and innovation practitioners to discuss the concept of social innovation, its application, and its impact on society. The program features keynote lectures, panel discussions, presentations of practical experiences, and networking events. A strong delegation of researchers from Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) is also actively participating in the conference, presenting their research and expertise in an international context.
MRU – the origins of the SOCIN conference
The SOCIN conference has deep roots at MRU – it was first launched at the university in 2011 and has since become an important platform for academic and practical discussions on social innovation.
Last year, MRU hosted the 12th edition of SOCIN, which was organized for the first time within the framework of ERUA. This year marks the 13th conference, a historic milestone: thanks to MRU’s active involvement in ERUA, SOCIN is, for the very first time, taking place outside Lithuania, hosted by one of our alliance partners – the University of Macerata.
A vision of social innovation – on a global scale
The theme of SOCIN’25 – “Rethinking Innovation: Inclusive Practices and Interdisciplinary Perspectives” – aims to move beyond traditional understandings of innovation by encouraging inclusive, interdisciplinary, and critical approaches to solutions that serve the public good.
Participants are exploring the diversity, challenges, and prospects of social innovation, discussing the role of education in the field, and considering how research can respond to shifting societal needs.
This international platform is yet another proof of how MRU’s leadership in the field of social innovation and its active participation in ERUA broaden the horizons of cooperation and open up new opportunities for both the Lithuanian and European academic communities.
