WE ARE LOOKING FOR HEAD OF PROJECT / RESEARCH 

International Call for Early-Career Researchers

Are you ready to take the next step in your academic career and lead your own research team for the first time? Mykolas Romeris University invites ambitious early-career researchers from Lithuania and abroad to apply for the position of Principal Investigator under the Research Council of Lithuania–funded programme “My First Research Team.”

THIS IS A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Implement an independent 36-month research project (planned start: Q2 2026), full-time employment (working full-time (at least 40 hours per week) throughout the entire project implementation period)
  • Establish and lead your first research team;
  • Strengthen your academic profile in the international research arena;
  • work in an international, interdisciplinary, open and research excellence–oriented university environment.

APPLICANTS ARE INVITED TO SUBMIT PROPOSALS UNDER ONE OF THE FOLLOWING RESEARCH THEMES:

  • Dissemination of Fake News and Information Consumption in Contemporary Society
  • Transformations of the Legal Regulation of Reproductive Health and Rights in Lithuania
  • Technological Advancement and Gender Balance in the Logistics Sector
  • The Role of Renewable Energy in Economic Growth
  • Digital and Artificial Intelligence Tools in the Education of Neurodiverse Learners
  • Advanced Digital Health Technologies for Strengthening Public Health

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The call is open to early-career researchers who:

  • Obtained a doctoral degree within the last seven years prior to the application deadline. Periods of maternity, paternity or parental leave, as well as long-term illness, are not included in this calculation;
  • Have not previously acted as principal investigators of research projects funded by the Research Council of Lithuania under the following programmes:
    1. Measure No. 01.2.2-LMT-K-718 “Targeted Research in Smart Specialisation Areas” (EU Structural Funds 2014–2020);
    2. Measure No. 09.3.3-LMT-K-712 “Development of Scientific Competences of Researchers, Other Researchers and Students through Practical Research Activities” (excluding student research promotion and postdoctoral fellowships);
    3. Researcher Group Projects;
    4. State Programme for Lithuanian Studies and Dissemination (2016–2024);
    5. Short-Term Research Projects in Health and Education;
    6. National Research Programmes: Welfare Society, Healthy Ageing, Sustainability of Agro-, Forest and Water Ecosystems, Towards Future Technologies, Modernity in Lithuania;
    7. Competitive Priority Research Programmes: Welfare Society, Strengthening Societal Resilience and Crisis Management in the Context of Contemporary Geopolitical Events;
    8. Dedicated Programme Information Technologies for the Development of Science and the Knowledge Society;
    9. Projects implemented under bilateral and multilateral international agreements (Lithuania–Taiwan projects, Baltic Research Programme, Lithuania–Poland projects);
    10. Progress Measure No. 12-001-01-02-01 “Strengthening Innovation Ecosystems in Science Centres” under the 2022–2030 Development Programme administered by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania.
  • Are prepared to work at Mykolas Romeris University for the entire project duration, spending at least 80% of their working time in Lithuania (excluding periods of business travel and research stays abroad).
  • Is able to conduct high-quality research, to identify its societal impact and publish research results at the international level;
  • Is able to work in a team, cooperate and coordinate researchers.

Applicants must submit the following documents:

  • a Narrative (skills-based) CV, providing information that allows for a qualitative assessment of the applicant’s contribution to the advancement of scientific knowledge, the creation of results relevant to the research community, and the impact of these results, as understood in the context of DORA (The Declaration on Research Assessment, https://sfdora.org/about-dora). The use of the “Resume for Research and Innovation” (R4RI) format is also recommended to present achievements in a structured manner;
  • a copy of an identity document;
  • a motivation letter, indicating the selected research theme;
  • documents certifying educational qualifications – if the doctoral degree was obtained abroad, a certificate of recognition issued by the Research Council of Lithuania must be submitted prior to employment (procedure available at: https://lmt.lrv.lt/lt/veiklos-sritys/mokslo-kokybe/uzsienyje-igyto-daktaro-laipsnio-pripazinimas/).

We offer monthly gross salary of EUR 4,914.
