Assessment and Recognition of Competences Acquired through Non-Formal and Informal Learning

The purpose of the assessment and recognition of competences is to broaden opportunities for independent learning, meet individual learning needs, and improve employment prospects by applying the principles of lifelong learning. The procedure also helps individuals make more efficient use of their time and other resources by recognising knowledge and skills acquired through non-formal and/or informal learning and awarding academic credits for them within formal studies.

An applicant may seek recognition of competences acquired:

• through employment;
• through unpaid or voluntary work, internships, traineeships, or practical placements;
• through short-term or long-term placements, courses, seminars, projects, exhibitions, and similar activities;
• through independent or self-directed learning;
• through other relevant activities.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

• hold at least a secondary education qualification;
• have at least two years of practical work experience in the field in which recognition of competences is sought;
• provide evidence of learning achievements acquired through non-formal adult education and/or informal learning, demonstrating that these achievements correspond to the learning outcomes of the relevant course(s) or module(s).

Fees

• EUR 43.50 – for processing an application to participate in the assessment and recognition procedure for competences acquired through non-formal and/or informal learning;
• EUR 37.50 – for the assessment and recognition of competences corresponding to the learning outcomes of one course or module.

Registration

Applicants wishing to participate in the procedure should complete the application form and send it to arc@mruni.eu.

The following documents should be attached to the application:

• a copy of the document confirming secondary education, if the applicant is not currently a student of the University;
• a document confirming that the required practical work experience has been acquired;
• any other documents specified in the application form and required under the relevant procedure.

If the applicant meets the requirements set out in the Regulations, the University will send them the form required for the assessment and recognition of competences acquired through non-formal and/or informal learning.
