MRU Rector Met with China’s Ambassador Zengwen Liu

Feb. 10th, 2015, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Rector Prof. Alvydas Pumputis met with a Chinese delegation led by People's Republic of China Ambassador for Lithuania Zengwen Liu.

They discussed strengthening ties with China's universities and development issues.

MRU Vice-Rector for Research and International Relations Prof. Inga Žalėnienė and MRU Senate Chairman Prof. Gintaras Aleknonis were also at the meeting.

Cooperation with the People's Republic of China continues on various levels at MRU including:

  • Bilateral cooperation agreements with China's Communication University and the Huazhong University of Science & Technology (HUST), which is also a partner of the European-Asian Knowledge Consortium (SOCTECH);
  •  From June 29th - July 6th, 2014,  the Social Technologies Faculty's Digital Technologies Insitute summer school, "Science & the Art of Communication" was held on campus;
  •  Social Technologies Faculty's Digital Technologies Institute Prof. dr. Mindaugas Kiškis lectured at Shanghai's East China University of Science & Technology (ECUST);
  •  From 2013 there are free Chinese language courses held on campus attended not only by students, university employees, but also social partners; Courses taught by Lecturer Yu Jin sent by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China;
  • According to international studies exchange programmes, from 2014, two Huangzhong University of Science & Technology students from China studied at MRU.
  • China cultural events included Festival of Lights and presentation of Chinese martial arts.
