On 22 October at 14:00, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) will officially open its renovated dining and leisure space, for which the name “MRU Pauzė” (MRU Break) has been proposed. The redesigned area will offer more than just a place to enjoy lunch or a cup of coffee – it will also provide a welcoming environment for the university community to meet, relax and socialise.
The renovation aimed to create a more comfortable and inviting environment for students, staff and university visitors. A new lounge area adjacent to the dining space features comfortable seating and areas for conversation. Visitors will also be able to read books from the MRU Library, charge their phones or simply take a break between lectures and work.
More Opportunities for the University Community
The renovated space will also introduce new initiatives promoting a sense of community and responsible consumption. One of these is a food-sharing station, where members of the university community will be able to share food and help reduce food waste.
A dedicated cinema area will also open soon, offering opportunities to watch films, sports events and concert broadcasts together. These additions are expected to encourage members of the university community to come together more often and enjoy shared experiences.
A Community Idea Becomes Reality
The idea for the new lounge area originated within the MRU community itself. Through the university staff initiative “Svajonių bankas” (Dream Bank), employees expressed their wish for a welcoming space where they could relax and interact informally. This suggestion became the foundation for bringing the project to life.
The official opening will take place on 22 October at 14:00 on the lower ground floor of the MRU main building, next to the café. MRU Rector Prof. Dr. Inga Žalėnienė will welcome attendees, who will then have the opportunity to explore the renovated facilities and discover what they have to offer.
The entire MRU community is invited to attend the opening and celebrate this new space for relaxation and connection on campus.
