From 19 to 23 October, the international Science Week “(re)SEARCH 2026”will take place in Vilnius for the second consecutive year. Throughout the week, Lithuanian and international researchers, science policy makers, diplomats, representatives of business, innovation and the public sector, students, and everyone interested in science and science policy will be invited to discuss the transformation of science in the context of technological and geopolitical change, strengthen the role of science diplomacy, and explore how Lithuania, as it prepares to hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2027, can contribute more actively to shaping European science policy.
Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) is an organisational partner of Science Week “(re)SEARCH 2026”. On 22 October, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, MRU will organise the international conference “Interdisciplinary Approach Towards Research Security for Managing Geopolitical Risks and Building Resilient Society” (the event is closed and by invitation only), focusing on research security, geopolitical risk management, and strengthening societal resilience. The conference will take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania in Vilnius.
The conference will take an interdisciplinary approach to these issues, exploring the links between research security, geopolitical risk management, and building a resilient society.
Five Days of Science Week in Vilnius
The international Science Week “(re)SEARCH 2026” will take place as Lithuania prepares to hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2027. The week’s events will explore how, amid changing geopolitical and technological circumstances, science can remain open and collaborative while strengthening its resilience, international impact, and contribution to strategic decision-making.
The programme from 19 to 23 October will feature events dedicated to Lithuanian–Japanese scientific cooperation, science diplomacy, Lithuanian–US cooperation in science and innovation, research security, the significance of the Constitution, and migration.
Participation in “(re)SEARCH 2026” events is free of charge, but advance registration is required. Participants may register for one or several events taking place during the week.
The international Science Week “(re)SEARCH 2026” is organised by the Research Council of Lithuania (RCL). Organisational partners include the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology, Mykolas Romeris University, and the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences.
