Since in last year (March 2016), the Faculty of Public Security at Mykolas Romeris university was entitled the status of CEPOL Academic Partner
Since in last year (March 2016), the Faculty of Public Security at Mykolas Romeris university was entitled the status of CEPOL Academic Partner, a cooperation for delivering in-service training courses for law-enforcement officers across the EU started. A course: 5/2017: Hotspots – regional focus on migration (the aim of the course: To enhance coordinated effort on the ground regarding border management, asylum and relocation, return, criminal investigations and prosecution - contribute to implementation of the comprehensive Hotspot approach in line with fundamental rights values) was delivered by Italian colleagues (19-23 June, 2017 Rome, Italy), and the Faculty participated/cooperated in the delivery of the course. Mr. Giedrius Strikulis (chief specialist at the State Border Guard Service at the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Lithuania) delivered teaching on the topics: The Commission concept of Hotspots’ approach as introduced in the European Agenda on Migration; The role of various agencies and authorities present at a hotspot, such as the hosting country, Europol, Frontex, EASO and Efficient sharing/collecting of information, especially to follow up on leads about detection of travel movements of possible terrorists. This in-service course was delivered on an especially important theme in a contemporary law-enforcement, therefore the experience will be relied upon in future undertakings.
